The IAOS Programme for the 53rd Session of the International Statistical Institute (ISI), Seoul, Korea

Being one of the five sections of the International Statistical Institute (ISI), the International Association of Statistics (IAOS) organised a number of sessions at the 53rd Session of the ISI.
The IAOS Sessions included:
SCORUS: A Standard Regional Reference System as Prerequisite for Internationally Comparable Regional Statistics
SCORUS: Measuring Inequalities In Large Urban Areas
Joint sessions with International Association of Survey Statisticians (IASS)
Joint session with International Association for Statistical Education (IASE)
Internet Day
The IAOS is pleased to note that all IAOS sessions were well attended. In particular, the IAOS organized for the first time a forum to discuss an important topic: Enhancing Statistical Capabilities in Developing/Transition Countries.
A panel of distinguished speakers gave presentations and participated in the discussions. Related issues on technical co-operation, challenges of statistical capacity building and international consulting were highlighted. This Forum was very well attended and the topics were actively discussed.
