On June 22, 2001, ISI member Professor Dieter Rasch has been awarded the "Doctor Honoris Causa" title by the Senate of the Szent Istvan University.

ISI member Professor Luigi Biggeri has assumed the position of President of the "Istituto Nazionale di Statistica", in Rome.

Congratulations are due to Professor Mikhail Antonovitch Korolev on the occasion of his 70^th birthday (September 12, 2001). Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Honoured Scientist of the Russian Federation, Academician of the International Academy of Informatics and ISI elected member, Prof. Korolev is presently serving as Chairman of the Interstate Statistical Committee of the CIS in Russia.

A general invitation is extended to all friends and colleagues of ISI member Constance van Eeden to attend a conference celebrating her 75^th birthday, as well as her long career as a distinguished researcher and student supervisor. The conference will be held at the Centre de recherches mathematiques of the Universite de Montreal from Friday morning May 24 to Saturday May 25 at noon. It will feature invited talks by Richard Gill, Chris A.J. Klaassen, Denis Larocque, Louis-Paul Rivest, Bill Strawderman and Jim Zidek. There will be a banquet on Friday night.
