ISI - International Statistical Institute Newsletter Volume 26, No. 2 (77) 2002
The ISI Ad Hoc Committee on Membership Expansion and Renewal, Chaired by Prof. David Moore, has recently issued a number of proposals pertaining to the nomination process that either have been approved by the ISI Executive Committee for immediate implementation, or approved by the ISI Executive Committee subject to the eventual consideration of the ISI Council. The proposals that have been accepted for immediate implementation pertain to the procedure for nominating ISI members, namely:
Allow support of a nomination to be communicated by any of e-mail, fax, or letter separate from the nomination form;
Allow the nomination form to be submitted electronically as well as by mail or fax;
An individual may apply for election (that is, submit his/her own nomination form). The form must provide the names of three ISI members who have been contacted by the applicant and have agreed to support the nomination. In accordance with our other recommendations, these supporters may communicate their support to ISI separately from the nomination form.
A review of the "Presentation of Candidate" form has been conducted by ISI Past President Mr. Jean-Louis Bodin and the ISI Permanent Office. For those ISI members wishing to nominate persons to become ISI elected or honorary members, or to propose themselves for ISI membership, the final version of this form is contained elsewhere in this edition of the ISI Newsletter, or can be downloaded, completed and submitted electronically via the following webpage: http://isi.cbs.nl/candidateform.htm
